The topping out ceremony for Pergamonmuseum’s building phase A was held on May 3, 2019. It marks a giant step towards completing the construction project. What has happened until now and how will things continue? The project head describes the construction process.
Structural building is finished for the most part. The new staircase and the glass ceilings and roofs of the museum’s central structure and the Tempietto, the new entrance area, have been completed. In places, the building shell already shows how the museum will receive its visitors after the renovation work is completed.
The complete restoration project has been characterized and influenced by unusual conditions and uncertainty. Frank Röger, project director for the Pergamonmuseum at the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning, has monitored the project from the beginning.
