Preserve, research, communicate. Museums, archives and libraries operate according to this classic triad. But it is precisely the act of communication that is encountering a shift in the expectations of visitors and users. For this annual report, Berlin-based photographer Katja Strempel undertook field research and, in her black-and-white photographs, presents SPK institutions from the public’s perspective – from the Museum of Musical Instruments to the Bode Museum and the Hamburger Bahnhof, from the State Secret Archives to the Picture Gallery. Normalities, absurdities and realities in the interaction between people and timeless objects.
