Preserve, research, communicate. Museums, archives and libraries operate according to this classic triad. But it is precisely the act of communication that is encountering a shift in the expectations of visitors and users. For this annual report, Berlin-based photographer Katja Strempel undertook field research and, in her black-and-white photographs, presents SPK institutions from the public’s perspective – from the Museum of Musical Instruments to the Bode Museum and the Hamburger Bahnhof, from the State Secret Archives to the Picture Gallery.
